Hearst Castle is an expansive estate consisting of 165 rooms situated on 250,000 acres near the remote seaside hamlet of San Simeon, California. From the 1920s to the 1940s, it served as a private sanctuary for the elite, drawing Hollywood stars, influential political leaders, and renowned literary figures such as Jean Paul Getty, Bernard Shaw, Calvin Coolidge, Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, and Marion Davies.
